Pilgrimage Walks

Payment & Cancellation

One Day Walks

For half-day or one-day walks, payment of the full cost must be made upon booking to ensure the booking is valid.

For day walks a final decision on the viability of the walk will be made three days beforehand.  If the walk is cancelled by Pilgrim Pathways (e.g. due to expected dangerous weather or because the minimum number of two participants has not been met) your walk cost will be reimbursed in full.

To cancel your booking, please contact us by phone or email.  If you cancel a week or less before the walk date, you will not be entitled to a refund.  For cancellations at more than a week before the walk date, a full refund will be given.

If a cancellation means that the walk is no longer possible because the number of  participants no longer reaches the minimum requirement of two people, you will not be entitled to a refund.

Longer Walks

For walks of two or more days, a deposit of 50% of the cost must be paid upon booking, and the remainder of the balance must be received one month before the start date.

If booking a walk less than one month before the start date, the full cost must be paid upon booking.

All bookings are considered provisional until the full cost has been paid.

Cancellation refunds will be given as follows:

  • 60 days or more before departure date: Full Refund
  • Between 30 days and 59 days before departure date: 50% Refund
  • Less than 29 days before departure date: No Refund

If you wish to cancel and you are able to identify someone who can replace you on the walk on the same terms as the original booking, we will transfer the booking to them at no extra cost.

If a walk is cancelled by Pilgrim Pathways for any reason, you will be entitled to a full refund of the walk cost.  Pilgrim Pathways will not refund any additional costs such as travel, insurance or additional accommodation costs.

Accuracy of Information Given & Changes to Plans

The website gives an overview of the walk and route.  More detail will be sent by email upon booking, including:

  • Start time and expected finish time
  • Map of the route to be walked
  • Recommended equipment and clothing (see below)
  • Refreshments arrangements

In the event of changes being made to the start or finish time, or the route to be walked, we will communicate with you not less than 48 hours in advance of the start of the walk.

For walks of 2 days or longer, we will communicate additional information upon booking, including:

  • Details of overnight accommodation
  • Details of any sites to be visited along the route

Equipment & Fitness

It is important that you come prepared for walking and the expected conditions. Please ensure you always have suitable footwear for the specified terrain, a walking pole on hilly or muddy routes for balance and dress for the forecast weather.  A day rucksack with a drink and any medications you need is essential. Any other items you need will be specified on the walk. Please ask if you require additional guidance on what to wear and what to bring with you.

The description of your pilgrimage sets out the general demands the walk will make on you – distance to walk each day, broad pace, general terrain - please ensure this is right for you and within your capabilities. We will be happy to discuss any concerns. It is also important that you let us know if you have any health problems or medical condition that may affect you during the walk.

Time Keeping

If you are unable to arrive on time for the start of a walk, please inform Pilgrim Pathways by phone on the contact number you will be given on booking as soon as you are aware of any delay.  Pilgrim Pathways will aim to adjust walk timings or the route as necessary, or help you to travel to a different location from the start where you can be met.

Liability

Please note that children under the age of 18 and adults generally classified as vulnerable must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Pilgrim Pathways is not liable for any injury, damage, loss caused by negligence of the participant, or by any sub-contracted services such as accommodation or transport or through force majeure or circumstances which could not have been predicted.

Pilgrimage Conversations

For conversations with a charge, you must pay the full cost on making your booking for it to be considered valid.

To cancel a booking, please contact Pilgrim Pathways by email or phone.  If you cancel your booking more than a week in advance of the advertised conversation date, you will be entitled to a full refund.

A single booking may be made for more than one person who intend to use the same device (phone, laptop, tablet etc) with which to log in to the conversation.

On making your booking you will be sent login details for the zoom call and guidelines for ‘zoom etiquette’ in the conversation.  The log in details are confidential and not to be shared with others.

If you are unfamiliar with the zoom platform for online meetings, please get in touch with Pilgrim Pathways to receive help and support as needed.

Please note that Pilgrim Pathways conversations are open only to adults aged 18 and over.
