Castle Combe to Malmesbury
on the Fosse Way
Saturday 10th May 2025 - 12 miles / 6 hours
Malmesbury has been a spiritual centre since St Aldhelm founded a monastery here in the eighth century and the present abbey church dates back to the Twelfth Century. Malmesbury lies close to the Fosse Way, a Roman road built in the first and second centuries to run from Exeter to Lincoln, which has carried pilgrims throughout the intervening years.
We will start the journey in the picturesque Cotswold village of Castle Combe and travel north east on a quiet rural section of the Fosse Way, before taking footpaths through fields and on quiet lanes alongside a branch of the River Avon to reach the impressive town of Malmesbury, finishing at the Abbey.
Cost: £45, to include return travel by taxi. Bring your own lunch.
