Llandaff Cathedral Lent Walk
Saturday 12th April 2025 - 9 miles / 6 hours
This is the final walk in the Lent series, and follows part of the Penrhys Pilgrimage Way from Rhondda to Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff. This walk is in two parts and we link the two by a short train journey. We start from Llwynipia railway station, with a short but steep climb to the Shrine of Our Lady of Penrhys overlooking the Rhondda valley. Then the route heads over Mynydd Troed y rhiw for spectacular views over the surrounding landscape.
We skip the middle part of the Penrhys pilgrimage route by taking the train from Porth to Taff's Well, then pick up the River Taff trail and the final section of the Penrhys pilgrimage route alongside the river to Llandaff Cathedral.
This walk will combine themes from previous pilgrimages, as we consider how we become aware of God through nature, place, companions and within ourselves.
There is an option of staying for choral evensong at Llandaff Cathedral 5.30pm. Return to the starting point is by public transport.
Cost: £30, excluding train tickets. Bring your own lunch.
